The cases we take

The firm handles a focused set of plaintiff-side matters. If yours is outside these areas, we will try to point you toward someone who can help.

01

Technology and AI Harms to Children and Families

AI companion apps, chatbots, and social platforms are now part of many children's daily lives. Some are designed to maximize engagement with little regard for what that does to a young user. When a product like that contributes to serious harm, the company that built and sold it can be held responsible under the same principles that apply to any other dangerous product.

The firm represents families in these cases. Depending on the facts, claims may include:

  • Defective design of an app or AI system
  • Failure to warn parents and users about known risks
  • Negligence in testing, safety features, and age verification
  • Deceptive marketing to minors and their parents
  • Wrongful death and serious personal injury

These cases are new and complex, and they are often brought alongside other firms and public interest organizations working on the same issues. The firm will tell you at the outset who else would be involved in your case.

02

Product Liability

Companies have a duty to sell products that are reasonably safe and to warn about risks that are not obvious. When a product fails that standard and someone is hurt, Florida law allows the injured person to seek compensation from the manufacturer, distributor, or seller.

  • Design defects, where the product is unsafe as designed
  • Manufacturing defects, where one unit or batch departs from the design
  • Inadequate warnings and instructions
  • Software and connected devices as well as physical goods

Product cases have strict time limits. Florida's statutes of limitations and repose can bar a claim even when the injury was serious, so it helps to speak with a lawyer early and to keep the product, packaging, and receipts.

03

Consumer Class Actions

Some business practices take a small amount from a very large number of people. No single customer could justify a lawsuit over a hidden fee, but a class action lets one or more people bring the claim on behalf of everyone affected.

  • Hidden, mandatory, or misleading fees, such as hotel resort fees
  • Deceptive pricing and advertising
  • Charging for services that were not provided
  • Violations of the Florida Deceptive and Unfair Trade Practices Act and similar laws

Chris also handles class action work in his separate role as Of Counsel to Normand PLLC, a national class action firm. Normand PLLC is an independent firm and is not part of Chris Hudon, PLLC. If you have been charged in a way that seemed wrong, save the receipt, confirmation email, or statement and get in touch.

04

Data Privacy, Digital Media, and Finance

Chris came to law from journalism, and his work since has included media and privacy matters, consumer finance, and federal lending. The firm handles disputes where those areas meet consumer harm.

  • Unlawful collection, sharing, or exposure of personal data
  • Data breaches that put customers' information at risk
  • Online tracking and disclosures made without proper consent
  • Banking, lending, and finance practices that mislead consumers
05

Personal Injury and Settlements

The firm handles personal injury claims and the settlement process that ends most of them. Settlement is where many details that matter to a client get decided: who is released, how liens and medical bills are paid, how the money is held, and what the client can say afterward.

  • Injury claims caused by negligence or defective products
  • Review and negotiation of settlement agreements
  • Settlements for minors, including court approval and guardianship requirements where Florida law calls for them
  • Resolution of medical and insurance liens

Fees and costs

Many of the firm's cases are handled on a contingency fee basis, which means the attorney's fee is a percentage of any recovery and there is no attorney's fee if there is no recovery. Depending on the terms of the written fee agreement, clients may be responsible for case costs and expenses even if there is no recovery. Every fee arrangement is explained and agreed in writing before work begins, and Florida's rules limit contingency fees in personal injury cases.
